I started graduate school this semester and was inspired to have a mini class of my own. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Fashion 101. LESSON 5!
Fashion Education 101: Skirts
Skirts are so fun and amazing! I have also found out there are SO many types of them!
I hope you enjoy!
1. A line
Fitted at the hips then flares out.
A full skirt that reaches to mid-calf or just above ankles, often made up of multiple layers of fabric.
Skirts that bubble. They either look good or bad on people.
There can be mini, long and full circle skirts. A skirt that’s cut in sections to make one or more circles with a hole for the waist.
These are really in right now.
Skirts that flare at the end, can be short or long.
Skirts that have room between one’s legs and fabric.
8. High waisted
Skirts that are high on thee waist.
I like to believe these are named hobble skirts because they make the girls literally hobble place to place. These are definitely vintage.
A skirt that is long, embroidered and pleated. They are worn in India.
Skirts that are long.
The end of the skirt looks like a mermaid.
Skirts that are TOO short.
These are not too short but just right.
15. Pencil aka straight skirt
I love these!
19. Rah Rah skirt
Short flounced skirt, popularized in the 80s, started with cheerleaders.
20. Scooter aka Skort
I am not going to lie I forgot these existed. I haven’t heard or seen them since I was in 3rd grade. I am now 23.
These are different from pencil skirts, pencil skirts are tighter.
Great blog to help with really specific skirts and skirts in general.
