I started graduate school this semester and was inspired to have a mini class of my own. Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to Fashion 101. LESSON 4!
Fashion Education 101: Jewelry
Some archaeologists have believed they have found some jewelry as old as 75,000 years old! So I feel it is an understatement to say jewelry has been around for a long time. 🙂
I have 3 addictions.
3. jewelry !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hope you enjoy some pretty pictures and a few details about special pieces.
Cameo is actually a method of carving into a gem or metalwork and having a raised positive image. The Romans are credited to have this look first. The most popular type of cameo worn is on the neck.
Pendant came from the Latin word “pendere” which means “to hang down”. Pendants are a loose-hanging piece of jewelry. Most common in necklaces.
Those things that hang from one’s neck. 😛
Blogger’s favorite type of necklace.
A locket is actually a type of pendant but has a space that can hold a picture or a lock of hair.
Necklaces that are close and tight to the neck.
Pieces of jewelry that wrap around the upper arm.
Jewelry that wraps around your wrist.
Bracelets that are smaller and simple, easily layered.
These are bigger pieces that can wrap around but don’t have to.
Jewelry that tells time. It’s a beautiful thing!
They come in fish hooks, studs, snaps and pull throughs.
Perfect for girls who don’t want to get their ears pierced. I didn’t get mine pierced until I was 17. Also some connect to earrings.
I wore these all the time as a little girl.
I am not going to lie, I think these are weird. I have seen some people with gauges so big that a fist can fit through.
My favorite type of jewelry!
Bracelets for thee ankles.
They get their own little category because they are cool!
Also if you are ever ordering necklaces online this picture helps me!
